Hotel
Villa Padierna Marbella, Spain |

With a luxury spa (the word luxury may get overused in this review, but my thesaurus doesn't do the destination justice) and its series of plunge pools, ice fountains, saunas and steam rooms, as well as an amphitheatre for alfresco musical performances, there's very little reason to leave the hotel once you've arrived. And I haven't even started on the restaurants yet. Looking out over the manicured lakes and grounds, and then on to the sea and even Gibraltar, Hotel Villa Padierna's laidback lunch destination is La Loggia, while fine dining and an exceptional tasting menu can be found in La Veranda. For those looking for a little taste of home, the English styled Eddy's Bar is a world away from the British-themed pubs down the road in the more touristy Costa del Sol resorts. Adding to the opulent surroundings, the hotel has recently opened Las Casitas, an exclusive enclosure of luxury villas in the hotel grounds, each with its own private swimming pool, sun terrace and 24-hour butler service. Rates start from € 500 per room per night. Special
