le
chics: What is your name?
Tinuola, I prefer to be called simply Tinu. Former
stage name was T.Naija but changed it to simply read the shorten
form of my first name. Prefer that to the former.
le chics:
How old are you?
Tinu:
I am as young or old as anybody wants me to be. I believe you are
as old or young as you want yourself to be and how you want people
to view you. But when it comes to business I always play the older
card, always. People, I discovered don't like to play hard ball
with their hard earned money if dealing with someone they perceive
is much younger than they are. Since I was a child I have always
surrounded myself with older friends, it is from them I draw wisdom.
le chics: Where were you born?
Tinu:
New York but raised in Nigeria and I am VERY proud of that.
le chics: You are a singer, Model, and so many
other good things? Where do you get the energy for all your works?
Tinu:
LOL!! We are born to use our energy while still breathing. We only
live once so why not indulge in as many things as you can allow
yourself to do? I make no excuses, I just do it!
le chics: How long have you being modelling?
Tinu: Gosh! I would
say about 10 years. It feels like yesterday I was only just handed
a business card on the street to consider fashion modelling. Wow!
Time flies. When I first started modelling was perceived by Africans
to be related to prostitution, but now its a thing of the past.
Glad to see Africans coming full circle and joining the world.
le chics: We read so many horrific stories about
models taking drugs to look slim, what advice would you give to
the younger ones out there, who might be thinking of joining the
crew of the heroine chicks?
Tinu:
Bad move! Your body will change as you grow older. I for one changed
with the cycle. When I was a teenager I did runways as a size 0
but as I got older I started doing more commercial work and son
found out that it paid more than editorial and runway. I was comfortable
there. There are consequences for every action in life. Taking drugs
now could mean a disaster when your beauty and crowning glory are
long gone. Then what do you do when you start looking like the back
end of a bus? Kill yourself? These are some of the reasons why taking
care of yourself now is crucial. More commercial work and son found

le chics: How long have you being singing?
Tinu:
Since high school being part of the drama and cultural dance group
in high school. But fairly on and off until the singing bug bite
me again in 2002 to start recording my 1st album. Then it bite again
in 2008 to work on the 2nd one after gaining more creative freedom
this time around.
