Meet Celine Bakshi - A cutting Edge Shoe Designer By LE CHICS

LE CHICS: Recently Alexander Mcqueen show cased some monster shoes on the Paris Fashion show, what do you think of his latest shoe designs?
CELINE: They were quite interesting, however I think it is important to design something wearable, whatever you are designing. McQueen's shoes were very impressive from a creative point of view but when you look at them being worn, they don't look very practical for the average wearer!

LE CHICS: Would you ever design shoes such as the one Mcqueen designed for women?
CELINE: I wouldn't design something like this if it was to be sold and worn in the real world. I would get more adventurous for a press piece but even still I probably wouldn't take it to this extreme.

LE CHICS: Who are your aspirators?
CELINE: Christian Louboutin is a favourite as his shoes are always elegant and beautiful no matter what. He understands femininity perfectly.

LE CHICS: We read and hear so much about racism in the fashion industry, have you ever encountered any racism yourself?
CELINE: No, I never have.

LE CHICS: Where do you see yourself in five years time?
CELINE: I hope to be successful in whatever I am working at. I would like to have been working for a well established brand and be working towards establishing my own brand.

LE CHICS: What kind of advice would you give to people who are willing to go into Shoe designing?
CELINE: Don't loose sight of what you want to achieve. You will get knocked down time and time again but you just have to pick yourself up and carry on. The footwear industry is extremely competitive but the best thing to do is be yourself. Don't be something you're not and stay true to yourself.

Thank you Celine, from the LE CHICS TEAM.
